Fundraising was non-stop in 2020 and we knew the monster we were up against — a global pandemic that threatened to push our students’ learning back an entire year. Not only did we have to fight for our students’ success by never missing a day of programming, but we knew we needed to step it up outside of the gym. So we provided weekly food, supplies and support to our students and their families. Together, as a community we battled 2020 and came out on top.

We launched our recurring giving campaign The Support Squad in conjunction with our Year-End campaign to offer donors the opportunity to give more than once a year to DBG. We were able to sign on 15 new recurring donors and lay the foundation for targeted donor communication with our select group, The Support Squad.

We train kids for life. And we’re revolutionizing the out-of-school time space. DBG is more than just an after-school program, it’s a family that takes care of everyone that walks through its doors and creates an individualized plan for every student.

DBG’s community was in crisis and we knew it was time to really step up for our students and their families. While our program was closed and students were learning virtually, we utilized our transportation vans to deliver food and supplies to our families. Our support didn’t stop there — we offered synchronous learning support, Zoom workouts and daily check-ins with families. While in crisis mode, we called on our donors to help sustain our program through the pandemic and in turn, offer the support our families truly needed.
